FRED installation using Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) is very similar to an 8.04
installation.
There was one problem, though, with tinyerp-server, it fails. I
apparently solved that with this trick:
cp /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/oldxml/_xmlplus/utils/boolean.so
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/_xmlplus/utils/
So it seems that everything is OK now.
BTW, I guess that future versions will use OpenERP which is TinyERP
succesor.....

I've install all mentioned on M GUERRA before install FRED.
Do you remember when I had problem with fred-pyfred (witch not started) on DEBIAN and when I used fred-manager for install.
I had solved this with installing omniORBpy and fred-pyfred started.
So I think that I can solve this same problem on Ubuntu with omniORBpy installation.
Only fred-pyfred server don't start on UBUNTU.
On DEBIAN I have to delete FRED database for restarting servers otherwise it stop on PostgreSQL interface.

Je sais que c´est l´option --with-omniorb qu´il faud utiliser mais quel repertoire donner.

We are now testing FRED in earnest and adapting our web application to it.
We would like to massively delete test contacts without waiting for the
protection period. How could that be done short of making a backup of
the BD first and then restoring?.
BTW, how can I change the protection period?.

I configured the latest FRED for the upcoming Ubuntu 9.04. Basically the
same than FRED for Hardy. One strange thing, though.
tinyerp-server does not install well. Not a FRED problem, but a
packaging or so problem when generating the corresponding .deb. I filed
a Launchpad bug and got the former tinyerp-server (for Hardy).
I documented the process. I'm sending the translated version to Jaromír
in these days.

I have 2 questions about fred-client command "technical_test".
In the documentation i read this:
"The result of the test will be saved into the message queue from where the registrant can fetch it by poll command."
My questions are:
1) Is the result of the test also saved in some of the postgresql tables ?
2) If the result isnt saved in the database, and i cant check the result from the database, then how do i use the poll command to see the result ?

I am trying to Install FRED but I am having many problems.
I tried the way:
./fred-manager download
./fred-manager install
./fred-manager start
and it gets the errors below:

but FRED only uses Country.
Is there any place to save both these informations ?

1--I´ve finished to install FRED on DEBIAN 5.0 with downloadind and compiling sources as at download page
But when I want to start servers with ./fred-server start it take away to postgres interface and stay there:
postgres#
2--Also fred-dbmanager execution took to the postgres interface
3--I´ve create FRED database and use ordered.sql to create tables
and when I do ./fred-dbmanager it say fFRED database don´t exist or postgres server isn´t running
Or postgres is online and I have create the database
can you give help to pass this step ?

I'me testing FRED. With administrative
interface I've create a registrar I can search it but when I verify the
table registrar in databse I don't see it. Why ?
When I execute creation commands, after typing command conection "fred-client -h nic -p 22353 -u REG-FRED_A -w passwd, in console"
It sent after I fill up fields :

And after I verify if servers were started :

I want to create my first registrar and zone. I use the scripts in the "HOW TO" witch I copy in two file: registrar.sh and zone.sh. And when I run command "sh registrar.sh" I have no error but any change is not done on tables registrar and registraracl.
Is it those step are obsolete or not (for creating registrar and zone) ?

I am trying to implement FRED as test in a Ubuntu Server, but I am
having many problems.
I am following the instructions as described in the link below:

After installing fred server I am trying to install fred-server python
component but I get the following errors:

My first question is for the instructions in the link above, they seems
to be old (fred 1.6.2 - I have downloaded fred 2.1.2). In the last step:

# cp server.conf.example /etc/fred/server.conf
I couldn't find any server.conf.example just server.conf and
server.conf.in???
Is there any updated instructions and can I have them so I can try again
step by step the implementation.
or is there any mistake made by me during the implementations step till
this point, which gives me this errors??
Another thing:
when installing fred server it didn't work the command: ./configure
--prefix=/usr && make because could not find the idl so I used the
command:
./configure --prefix=/usr --with-idldir=/usr/share/idl/fred/idl && make
because the idl dir was not /usr/share/idl/fred
but /usr/share/idl/fred/idl
can I have some instructions for implementations of fred-2.1.2 please
because to me those instructions looks old??

When setting up fred-client the usual procedure for installing it works
as expected.
But when calling it it gives this error:
ERROR: getaddrinfo() socket.error [9] servname not supported for ai_socktype
The solution is to modify fred-client.conf so the socket type is forced,
as shown here
;; Force socket type. Valid value is: IPv4 or IPv6.
;; Default is to use server's socket type.
;socket = IPv6

I've noticed that the nssets and keysets are extensions to the regular
EPP descriptions in the RFCs.
I have a question: would those extensions be a problem if a registrar
expects the hosts and domains based on that?. I ask this because the
client development the NIC-CR (Costa Rica) made was based on the hosts
and domains transactions described in the RFCs.

I'm attempting to install FRED onto a Gentoo box. I'm using fred-manager
to do the grunt work.
I've started with a reasonably minimal install box (no X, etc) and so
far - added:
emerge -uv omniORB boost libdaemon postgresql bind bind-tools doxygen
pyorbit tinyerp-server freefont-ttf
I'm installing 'fred' into "/home/fred' - as user 'fred'.
Near the top - I get:-

My concerns here are - why would I even expect a non-root user to be
able to start PostgreSQL?? - (which was already running)
There seems to be an ugly mix between 'system' jobs and 'user' jobs?
The same goes for Apache - only system users (or root) should be able to
start (and stop) system processes.
Same for the contents of /var/spool/cron.
Should I actually copy all of "home/fred/root" to my machines "/" ???
lastly - the suggestion of just adding four packages (as well as generic
tools) does seem misleading.
Now the 'install' ends with:-

Hello,
I am trying to install FRED for testing, but I am having problems in
installing all the necessary components. My problem is omniORB?
I downloaded and installed omniORB4, following the instructions but
still when I try to install FRED it gets the following error.
checking for OMNIORB4... configure: error: Package requirements
(omniORB4 != 4.1.1, omniDynamic4, omnithread3) were not met:
Requested 'omniORB4 != 4.1.1' but version of omniORB4 is 4.1.1
I know that may be not directly for here my question, but can someone
give me a little help in a step by step guide for installing and make
the omniORB work.
I have read some instructions (installing omniORB4) but after all the
steps still nothing??

Which nameserver software does FRED use ? Bind ?
Is there a zone-file on my server where i can see all the domains, which i have created and put into zone ? (I cant find it)
