Which nameserver software does FRED use ? Bind ?
Is there a zone-file on my server where i can see all the domains, which i have created and put into zone ? (I cant find it)

I think FRED contains one or more functions, that can be used for sending emails.
How do i send emails, and where can i find documentation about this ?

FRED has a regular procedure that automatically delete
contacts, nssets and keysets that are 6 month unattached and unmodified.
Is it possible to mark certain contacts, or set a state, so they will NOT be deleted, even if they are 6 months unattached and unmodified ?

In .fo we demand from our users, that DNS (nameservers) shall be working, before they can apply for a domain. Because of this, we do a check at the time, when the users is applying for the domain on our website. The check-script is checking, if the domain, which the user applies for, are registered on the nameservers, which he specifies as nameservers for this domain.
Can i use the fred-client command "technical_test" for this purpose ? Or does this command have another purpose ?
And if yes, then which level should i be using ?
I have tried, but it seems not to give me correct answers on this.

I can see that the FRED database (PostgreSQL) is in UTF-8.
Since i am using PHP, and i got some problems with UTF-8, I am considering to change the PostgreSQL database to ISO 8859-1 character set.
question 1)
Is it safe to do this ?
Is there anything i should reconsider before doing this ?
question 2)
And how can i set the character set, if i use the commands below ?:
fred-dbmanager uninstall
fred-dbmanager install
