Great, improving, but I now have the following error from fred-client, how do I connect
to the servers?
[root@ngoli paulos]# /usr/bin/fred-clientFredClient 1.6.1Type "help", "license" or "credits" for more information.Using configuration from /etc/fred/fred-client.confConnecting to localhost, port 700 ...ERROR: Server returned an empty message.Server didn't return Greeting message. Contact server administrator.
And when I go the website http://ngoli.registrar.mw:18456, I get this output below on my
console - how do I suppress it?
I had to open port 18456 in iptables, should I disable iptables as well?
Regards, Paulos

IfSELinux is enabled you have to allow apache to bind to this port by somespecial commands.About half a year ago I made this attempt and these are some commands, that may help:semanage port -a -t http_port_t -p tcp 43semanage port -a -t http_port_t -p tcp 700setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect=1setsebool -P allow_daemons_use_tty=1restorecon -R -v /var/lib/pgsql/data/pg_hba.confBut I think that this is not enough (maybe some other commands areneeded), and finally I decided to disable SELinux at all. This is donein /etc/sysconfig/selinux where you must set SELINUX=disabled andrestart linux.Hope this will help.Regards,JaromirDr Paulos Nyirenda [UTF-8?]pĂše v St 05. 11. 2008 v 11:29 +0200:Jaromír Talír,or anyone else,Although my httpd was running ok, I am getting the followinghttpd error when I try to active the fred-server, could you pleasesuggest what I can do to resolve it?[root@ngoli paulos]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/fred-server startStarting FRED central registry CORBA servers... I thing hecan answer some questions about FRED.It would really help if I could have a brief technical meeting onFRED.I have installed FRED on fedora8 and I need a few pointer on a fewareas including(a) how I could finalise httpd, epp configuartion,(b) how to use it successfullyI don't know how to answer these questions. If you installed allcomponents using 'yum install fred-*'. You have to start all servers.sudo /etc/init.d/postgresql initdbsudo /etc/init.d/postgresql startsudo /etc/init.d/omniNames startsudo /etc/init.d/fred-server startsudo /etc/init.d/httpd startsudo /etc/init.d/fred-webadmin-server startThen you can connect to server with:/usr/bin/fred-client(c) how I could efficiently or quickly import our current .mw ccTLDregistry data into FREDFirst you will have to configure FRED for .mw. You shoud add your systemregistrar and your zone to FRED and allow this registrar to registerthis zone./usr/sbin/fred-admin --zone_add --zone_fqdn=tz/usr/sbin/fred-admin --registrar_add --registrar_handle=REG-MWNow change in /etc/fred/fred-client.conf username from REG-FRED_A toREG-MW. You sould be able to connect with this registrarWhen we migrated from old system to FRED we used normal fred-client. Youwill have to create commands (create_contact, create_nsset,create_domain) that reflect your current database and use fred-client toprocess these commands.Regards,JaromirPaulos==============================Dr Paulos NyirendaMalawi SDNP Coodinator----------------------------------------------------------Malawi SDNP Webmail: http://www.sdnp.org.mwAccess your Malawi SDNP e-mail from anywhere in the world.----------------------------------------------------------
